Ouch. So men love the narrative they control. The story they make up. Once that inspiration speaks up and tells its own story, the ugly, cold, hard truth of it... that's when things change.
Absolutely 🫶🏻 I also have met a fair share of men who like to literally overlook the suffering in a story. I overheard groups of men leaving the theatre of that movie Obsession (slight spoiler incoming) that is clearly involving themes of assault and rape and say “it would be great to have a woman that obsessed with me” 🤨 It’s like they don’t even see the same media because they overlook the clear issues in them because they are uncomfortable (or don’t care, but I hope it’s uncomfortable)
I’m not sure what the best word for that is. Callous? Apathetic? Just plain awful? Tone deaf even?
It’s hard to know when you see that if it’s willful disregard or if they’re just genuinely a terrible person and don’t get that there’s a problem with it.
Whatever it is, it sucks and I’m sorry that the “muses” have to put up with it at all. It should never be that way.
It is insane, and terrifying sometimes. It is very hard to distinguish, so I try to give people the benefit of the doubt when in the wild 😅 People like you always show up with a ray of sunshine and hope though, so thank you 🫶🏻
I’ve always found it' takes way less effort and energy to be nice to people so I don’t really… like internally… get why people do mean things. It’s too exhausting.
